It's All About Pink + Contest!

 

Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re so excited to bring out the pink in every way possible - nails, clothes, hair - you name it, we’re wearing it! To help you plan your Valentine’s Day look we found a few of our favorite makeup tutorials and how-tos using our favorite pink products!

If you want to incorporate pink into all of your look (eyes, cheeks and lips!), try Mrslolalynn’s Soft & Romantic Valentine’s Makeup & Updo tutorial - perfect, right? We love that she uses our Pink Chocolate Matte blush on the backs of her cheeks and uses a brighter pink blush on the apples of her cheeks for a great pop of color!

If you prefer to wear a toned-down pink, check out this Princess Diana Inspired Makeup Tutorial by Fleur DeForce using our Lipgloss in Suzie! The color is a great way to incorporate a smaller hint of pink into your look with a great rose gold shimmer finish. Follow the tutorial as-is or pair it with this Gold Sparkle Explosion eye look for a fun color combo.

Don't forget - you can always use your blush color as an eyeshadow in case you want to keep your pink color consistent! BeautyWithBrittanyXo uses our Cinnamon Spice blush as both a cheek color and eye color in her Natural Moondust tutorial.

How long have you worked for Amazing? Since 2002                                   

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Spending time with my 2-year-old niece Adriana and 6-month-old nephew Joey. They melt my heart.

Favorite color? Blue               

Favorite animal?  Dogs – I have two of my own, Fred and Floyd

Best childhood memory? When I was in 4^th grade my baby sister Andrea was born - I remember running home from school with my brother Joe to meet her for the very first time.

The perfect weekend? Dinner with my husband, seeing a movie with my children, catching up with my family & friends, church on Sunday, oh and going to my cross fit class.

First spring trend purchase? hmmmmmm

Favorite AC product? I cannot live without the AmazingConcealer in medium beige, the Amazing Anti-Aging Face Primer and the medium beige VelvetMineral Pressed Powder.

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? If my superpower was to have the ability to duplicate or replicate things we could provide housing and aid to those in need. That would be wonderful!

Who inspires you? Why? I am inspired by my family. My mom for her zest for life - my mom is beautiful inside and out. My father for always being able to make me laugh. My children for always listening.

How long have you worked for Amazing?  2 years and 5 months.

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Try new restaurants.

Favorite color? Green

Favorite animal? Penguins

Best childhood memory? Camping with my cousins. Also, beach family outings. 

The perfect weekend? My idea of a perfect weekend is 90 degree weather and spending it downtown! Going to the beach, maybe even a Cubs game!

First spring trend purchase? Wedges

Favorite AC product? The AmazingConcealer! I’ve covered everything from bruising, tattoos, dark circles…you name it!

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? I’ve always loved Wonder Woman.

Who inspires you? Why? My mother. She’s always loving, strong, generous, and has the patience of a saint. She has worked hard her whole life. She inspires me each day. I’ve seen so many obstacles she has overcome and she inspires me to know that no matter what life throws at you, you can be strong and overcome it!

To spread the Amazing love to every single woman who comes to our site looking for answers during the month of February because:

We are going to give our Amazing community an opportunity to get to know the people that make Amazing tick! I've created the Be My Amazing Valentine profile where each one of us (the ladies behind Amazing) will be featured in a blog. A new bio will be upload everyday leading up to Valentine's Day but we're going to start off this series by featuring the bio of co-founder Lisa Thurman!

How long have you worked for Amazing? I founded the company in 1999. 

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Spending time with family, travel and sleeping! 

Favorite color? Pink 

Favorite animal? My dog, a soft-coated wheaten terrier. 

Best childhood memory? I have many! One was watching slides from family pictures; my dad would set up the screen and projector and we’d turn off the lights - it all seemed like so much fun looking back on all the things we did together. 

The perfect weekend? In the winter - just staying home and relaxing. Inn the summer - going into Chicago overnight and having a couple of good meals and just taking in such a great city and all it has to offer. 

First spring trend purchase? Nude pumps 

Favorite AC product? The AmazingConcealer! 

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? If I saw someone being cruel to another person, I’d be able to tap him or her on the shoulder and reverse the gesture to one of kindness. 

Who inspires you? Why? Everyday people who help others for no recognition, just because it’s the right thing to do. Also, Bill and Melinda Gates, Warren Buffet, Samantha Powers, John Prendergast and our President.

We love the Brits!!

 

I don't know about you but I'm pretty tired of reading about the same 20 products that I just "have to have" year after year after year. It's always the same stuff. 

 

So many thanks Harpers Bazaar UK for actually creating a unique list of must-haves that haven’t been copied and pasted from a beauty blogger...who copied and pasted from another beauty blogger who copied... well I think you know where I’m going with this. 

 

Harpers Bazaar UK - I'm sure you had to dig a little to create this list and I can safely say, all us girls appreciate you doing the leg work. Oh and by the way - I couldn't agree more! 

 

PS -- look for Amazing on The Shopping Channel (online)! It's in Canada (LOVE Canadians too!) and I hope you catch at least 1 of our 4 hour-long shows!! We are offering a few amazing values you shouldn’t miss out on!! I'm so excited!! An Amazing Film

With Awards Season in full swing, we thought this would be the perfect timing to talk about a film we’re really looking forward to: Finn & the Sea of Noise. The film, directed by the nephew of AmazingCosmetics owner Lisa Thurman, is a feature length, coming of age film that was created in the Chicago area. 

The official description reads: As Finn slips back into a groove of mindless parties, sunburn, and hangovers, he lets his life take a mind-numbing vacation. But when he’s confronted with death first hand, he takes a new outlook on life, remembering his endless dreams and goals from when he was young.

We’re so glad to be able to support young filmmakers as they carry out their passion and thrilled that AmazingCosmetics makeup is used on all of the actors in the film! And what better way to spend a warm and cozy night in (because who wants to go outside in this weather?) than watching independent films! We hope you enjoy the trailer of Finn & the Sea of Noise and eagerly wait with us for it's release.

A Christmas Wish

 

Well it’s only befitting that the company that started around a kitchen table celebrated around one for the annual Amazing Christmas party. 13 years ago the kitchen table at co-founder Sue Katz’s house was the spot in which the early AmazingCosmetics products were created on.

The AmazingConcealer was the first-born - aren’t they always the favorite? ;)

First 5 shades, then 7, then 10 and now 20 shades later – the iconic AmazingConcealer has risen to “Rock Star” status getting woman flawless in 6 countries!

Who’d have thought that 2 women from Chicago armed with the idea that not a good, but an amazing concealer, could change the way you feel about yourself when you looked into the mirror.

We are fortunate to get a nice share of beauty editor praise as well as praise from beauty influencers, celebrities and professional makeup artists and we could not be more grateful. But, it’s the personal phone calls and emails that you won’t read about in Allure or InStyle that have truly touched me since I started my career with Amazing. We receive so many thank you calls and emails from women that have skin imperfections (don’t we all!). From dark circles and blemishes to blotchy skin-tone and broken capillaries. No matter who they come from the message is always the same, “Thank you AmazingCosmetics for making products that truly work!”. I had a woman once tell me that she was so plagued by her dark circles she wore tinted glasses all the time and didn’t even need to wear glasses! Another story I’ll never forget - I ran into a women in LA at an in-store beauty event - she was attractive, successful and literally piled on layers of her foundation to erase her dark circles and uneven skin tone. After we removed all of her makeup I simply dotted on some AmazingConcealer, blended it and handed her a mirror. She kept saying, “Where’s the redness?” and, “Where are my circles?”

I have to say, in a competitive industry like the beauty biz, I’m so happy to be a part of an independent cosmetic company devoted to bringing out products that truly work.

With so many out there searching for “hope in a jar”, I’m ecstatic we’ve got “magic in a tube”!
