Tell me something you love about AmazingCosmetics: EVERYTHING! The story, the beyond effective products, the professional artists that support us and the women out there who’ve become fiercely loyal to amazing over the years. It’s all SOOOOOOOO great!

How long have you worked for Amazing? 11 amazing years!!!!!!!!!

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Oh I have so many where do I start?? Yoga - I LOVE practicing Yoga! Horseback riding, although I’m not able to ride as much as I’d like to. Decorating my house, my daughter’s apartment, your house... JK! Ha…love to create beautiful, warm and inviting spaces. Thank you Coastal Living and Traditional Home magazines for inspiring me!

Favorite color? ORANGE. Most definitely orange. But that said - I do love navy, red and I’m totally loving the “hot” color of the season…Lilac!

Favorite animal? My little grandma puppy Holly!

Best childhood memory? Wow…where do I start? My parents entertained quite a bit and they always served great food to eat and had amazing music playing (on the hi-fi J) Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Herb Alpert. Oh, can’t forget my Dad’s fave Patti Page! We’d sing along and dance with my Dad…great, great memories.

The perfect weekend? I LOVE weekends. I always have such grand plans for everything I’d like to accomplish. If I get half completed I’m happy! But if I can, I adore weekend getaways with my husband. Maybe the city? Or a low country excursion. Great way to re-energize and re-connect!

First spring trend purchase? Hopefully something lilac soon! But I did purchase a pair of cage sandals in saddle brown that I’m in love with and can’t wait to wear. Will it ever be warm enough to wear them???

Favorite AC product? Of course… The AMAZINGCONCEALER!! That’s a no-brainer! I’m also pretty obsessed with the Velvet Mineral Liquid Foundation. I say that and surprise myself because I typically don’t like liquid foundations…at all. And then, we created the Velvet Liquid Foundation and my opinion completely changed. First? It’s buildable, meaning if my skin is doing a “happy dance” I use VERY little and still get flawless results. On days when my complexion looks....well…awful? The Velvet Liquid just glides onto my skin hiding everything I need it to plus - it has skin care ingredients that are actually doing something great for my skin while making my skin look…well, amazing!

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? I would be the “singing” super hero that cures cancer.

Who inspires you? Why? My Mom and Dad. They’ve left this earth but are still a constant inspiration to me because how they lived. The greatest role models a gal could have!

Who's your special valentine? My husband Frank of course! He makes me laugh and I love the life and family we’ve created together. I’m a lucky girl.

How long have you worked for Amazing? 6 years

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Spending time with my husband and two sons.

Favorite color? It is a toss-up between purple and turquoise.

Favorite animal? Dolphins. I would love to be able to swim with them in the ocean.

Best childhood memory? Summer vacations with my family. We would pack up the station wagon, rent a cabin on a lake and fish for a week straight. 

The perfect weekend? Spending a nice quiet weekend at home with my family, a fire in the fireplace, a great bottle of Prosecco, and a good book.

First spring trend purchase? I will let you know after I hit the Mag Mile next weekend!

Favorite AC product? The AmazingConcealer, of course.

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? To be able to take a magic wand and erase self-doubt or low self-esteem from any young girl’s mind.

Who inspires you? Why? My husband, Eddie. He is the most selfless, caring individual I have ever met.

How long have you worked for Amazing? 7 Months

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Cooking or baking for my family. LOVE great quality food. 

Favorite color? Red (Had a red sports car!)

Favorite animal? My dog (Bentley)

Best childhood memory? Playing cards with my sisters and brothers late into the evening after all the farm work was done for the day. 

The perfect weekend? Do something that was not planned but turns out to be a really great adventure; could be a show, museum, or checking out a new little shop but ALWAYS wearing my Amazing concealer.

First spring trend purchase? A floral dress and a metallic shirt

Favorite AC product? Definitely the concealer BUT, I think our new (soon to be launched) eye primer will soon be my fav!!

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? Eliminating poverty and providing support to families in need.

Who inspires you? Why? My mom. She appreciates everything and the little things make her very, very happy.

Who's your special valentine? My husband Barry, the love of my life and the most gentle soul I have ever known. Love him to death.

Favorite color? Purple, always has been

Favorite animal? Dogs and Horses

Best childhood memory? Summer days swimming, riding my bike and playing kickball with the neighbor kids without a care in the world!

The perfect weekend? Great company, good food and no chores!

First spring trend purchase? A hot pink trench coat

Favorite AC product? Brow Gel, it helps me keep my unruly eyebrows in place!

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? Teleporting: It would allow me to help where needed, spend time with family and friends in good times and bad. On a personal note, I would never have to endure air travel again!!

Who inspires you? Why? My children: they make me be a grown up and keep me young at the same time.

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? I love to watch my daughter play softball and basketball. I also love to hang out with family and friends over good food and a football, basketball or softball game on TV. My husband and I joke about starting a softball network!

Favorite color? Patina green, it reminds me of my grandmother

Favorite animal? I really love all animals. I could never work at an animal shelter, I’d take them all home!

Best childhood memory? One of the best times I remember was in the summer, I’d run in to slam down dinner so I could get back out to night games with the kids in our hood. We had a great neighborhood!

The perfect weekend? Galena, IL—so beautiful and relaxing

First spring trend purchase? I’m reading that this year the color is blue. I can’t wait to wear a blue and white striped shirt, white jeans and cute flats with a vibrant blue scarf. Spring can’t come soon enough!

Tell me something you love about AmazingCosmetics: When you wear Amazing products you don’t really look like you are wearing makeup. You look like you just have fabulous skin.

How long have you worked for Amazing? 7 ½ years full time, but before that I worked as a freelancer.

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working?  Spending time with my husband Jim and my 2 sons Ryan and Stephen. Now that my sons are older it’s hard to get all of us together but when it does work out it’s fun just hanging out watching a movie or playing a game as a family.

Favorite color? Pink

Favorite animal? Dogs

Best childhood memory? Living in Hawaii when I was young

The perfect weekend? Last fall when I went to Galena, IL with my husband and friends. That weekend was so much relaxing and fun. I would love to do that again soon.

First spring trend purchase? A new top in Radiant Orchid.

Favorite AC product? I have 2: AmazingConcealer and the loose mineral foundation. My skin can get very red and by using the concealer with the mineral powder I can cover everything.

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? Ability to make women see their beauty, not what they consider their faults.

Who inspires you? Why? My sister Tina. She is someone that is always there for you. Tina has had some health issues but she never lets that stop her. She always volunteering to help others.

It's All About Pink + Contest!

 

Happy Valentine’s Day! We’re so excited to bring out the pink in every way possible - nails, clothes, hair - you name it, we’re wearing it! To help you plan your Valentine’s Day look we found a few of our favorite makeup tutorials and how-tos using our favorite pink products!

If you want to incorporate pink into all of your look (eyes, cheeks and lips!), try Mrslolalynn’s Soft & Romantic Valentine’s Makeup & Updo tutorial - perfect, right? We love that she uses our Pink Chocolate Matte blush on the backs of her cheeks and uses a brighter pink blush on the apples of her cheeks for a great pop of color!

If you prefer to wear a toned-down pink, check out this Princess Diana Inspired Makeup Tutorial by Fleur DeForce using our Lipgloss in Suzie! The color is a great way to incorporate a smaller hint of pink into your look with a great rose gold shimmer finish. Follow the tutorial as-is or pair it with this Gold Sparkle Explosion eye look for a fun color combo.

Favorite animal?  Dogs – I have two of my own, Fred and Floyd

Best childhood memory? When I was in 4^th grade my baby sister Andrea was born - I remember running home from school with my brother Joe to meet her for the very first time.

The perfect weekend? Dinner with my husband, seeing a movie with my children, catching up with my family & friends, church on Sunday, oh and going to my cross fit class.

The perfect weekend? My idea of a perfect weekend is 90 degree weather and spending it downtown! Going to the beach, maybe even a Cubs game!

How long have you worked for Amazing? I founded the company in 1999. 

What is your favorite thing to do when you're not working? Spending time with family, travel and sleeping! 

Favorite color? Pink 

Favorite animal? My dog, a soft-coated wheaten terrier. 

Best childhood memory? I have many! One was watching slides from family pictures; my dad would set up the screen and projector and we’d turn off the lights - it all seemed like so much fun looking back on all the things we did together. 

The perfect weekend? In the winter - just staying home and relaxing. Inn the summer - going into Chicago overnight and having a couple of good meals and just taking in such a great city and all it has to offer. 

First spring trend purchase? Nude pumps

If you were a super hero, what would be your super power? If I saw someone being cruel to another person, I’d be able to tap him or her on the shoulder and reverse the gesture to one of kindness.

I don't know about you but I'm pretty tired of reading about the same 20 products that I just "have to have" year after year after year. It's always the same stuff. 

 

So many thanks Harpers Bazaar UK for actually creating a unique list of must-haves that haven’t been copied and pasted from a beauty blogger...who copied and pasted from another beauty blogger who copied... well I think you know where I’m going with this. 

 

Harpers Bazaar UK - I'm sure you had to dig a little to create this list and I can safely say, all us girls appreciate you doing the leg work. Oh and by the way - I couldn't agree more! 

 

PS -- look for Amazing on The Shopping Channel (online)! It's in Canada (LOVE Canadians too!) and I hope you catch at least 1 of our 4 hour-long shows!! We are offering a few amazing values you shouldn’t miss out on!! I'm so excited!! An Amazing Film

With Awards Season in full swing, we thought this would be the perfect timing to talk about a film we’re really looking forward to: Finn & the Sea of Noise. The film, directed by the nephew of AmazingCosmetics owner Lisa Thurman, is a feature length, coming of age film that was created in the Chicago area. 

The official description reads: As Finn slips back into a groove of mindless parties, sunburn, and hangovers, he lets his life take a mind-numbing vacation. But when he’s confronted with death first hand, he takes a new outlook on life, remembering his endless dreams and goals from when he was young.

We’re so glad to be able to support young filmmakers as they carry out their passion and thrilled that AmazingCosmetics makeup is used on all of the actors in the film! And what better way to spend a warm and cozy night in (because who wants to go outside in this weather?) than watching independent films!
